I am going to start working on a project that already uses an older
version of JMVC, i believe it is 3.2.4 or below. Basically it uses
jqueryMX. We need to support IE8 in the new module we would be
developing, and we are considering using 3.3 which uses an older
version of canJS I believe(1.1.7). Now I have read in the docs that
all browsers which the underlying lib supports(i.e. depending on
jquery in my case), are supported by JMVC. So just wanted to confirm if:-
1) JMVC 3.3 (with canJS 1.1.7) supports IE8?
2) Can JMVC 3.3 be used with canJS 2.1.2. (And if yes, then does it
support IE8 too?)
3) Is 3.2.4 version of JMVC still actively supported by Bitovi?
Knowing this would be really helpful in picking the right version.
I tried looking through the forums but couldn't find much information.
Maybe I skipped something. Any help would be great!
We do support IE8(and IE7) in all versions of CanJS. Note, if you plan
on using can.Component in IE8, you'll need Google's HTML5Shiv to make
things play nice.
JMVC 3.3 can be used with CanJS 2.1.2.
JMVC 3.2.4 is not directly supported anymore as we've broken the
projects up individually, however there are plans for a new JMVC in
That all being said, if this is a greenfield project I'd recommend
using the latest CanJS with the latest Steal(or loader of choice).
Both have up to date documentation and guides(canjs.com and
